Your BMI, plus the healthy range for your height.
Body Mass Index is a quick screening number: weight divided by height squared. It is crude — it cannot tell muscle from fat — but it is the standard first check used by doctors and insurers worldwide. This calculator shows your BMI, the WHO category it falls in, and the weight range that would land you in the "healthy" band for your height.
People use this before doctor visits, when starting a fitness plan, and for insurance and military/first-responder requirements that use BMI bands. It is a first screening number — crude, but the standard reference the whole health system still runs on.
The WHO bands are: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 healthy, 25–29.9 overweight, 30 and above obese. These are population screening bands, not individual diagnoses.
BMI only sees mass and height, not composition. A muscular athlete can exceed 25 while having low body fat. Waist circumference or body-fat percentage are better individual measures.
Yes — children and teens use age- and sex-adjusted percentile charts, not the adult bands. This calculator uses the adult WHO scale.
