The client count IS the business plan.
A mowing business is multiplication: clients × price × visits. This planner runs that math for a full season, subtracts direct per-visit costs, adds the upsell revenue (mulch, cleanups, aeration) that good route density makes possible, and shows what the season is worth per month — so you know in March what the year looks like.
Lawn care owners use it in the off-season to plan: clients × price × visits is the whole business, and seeing that each added client is worth $1,350 a season turns "I should advertise" into a specific target. It is also the loan-conversation number for equipment financing.
Pure arithmetic: 40 clients at $45 per visit for 30 visits grosses $54,000, and at 15% upsells plus $8/visit direct costs, nets about $52,500 before overhead. Solo operators with dense routes often run 40–60 recurring clients; a two-person crew can carry 80–120.
Because drive time is unpaid. Two adjacent lawns share one stop; two lawns across town cost twenty minutes of windshield time each. A tight route of 40 clients can out-earn a scattered route of 55. Discount for referrals next door, never across town.
Spring and fall cleanups, mulch installs (use the mulch calculator for the quote), aeration and overseeding in the fall, and shrub trimming. Upsells typically add 10–20% on top of mowing revenue and carry better margins because the crew is already on site.
